HOCO FEST—held annually at the historic Hotel Congress in the heart of Downtown Tucson—will be marking its 12th year by establishing itself as a truly international destination event. Featuring a vanguard, genre-spanning musical lineup, guest lecturers and producer workshops, vintage clothing and vinyl record fairs, free regional liquor tastings, yoga, and a series of wild experimental afterparties amid Arizona’s majestic desert daybreaks, HOCO Fest 2017 strives to celebrate everything that makes the culture of the Borderlands so important.

HOCO FEST PERFORMER ELYSIA CRAMPTON WILL BE PRESENTING A LECTURE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND. THE EXTENSIVE LECTURE WILL COVER SUCH TOPICS AS MUSIC HISTORY, NATIVE AMERICAN HISTORY (AYMARA-ANDEAN), QUEER NATIVE CULTURE (ANDEAN), ANDEAN COLONIAL STUDIES, SPANISH CHRONICLER STUDIES, ANTI-COLONIAL STUDIES, QUEER JUSTICE, DISABILITY JUSTICE, ANTI-COLONIAL STRUGGLE, NATIVE AMERICAN ART (ATMARA-ANDEAN), AND TRANS LIBERATION.

AWARD WINNING RESTAURANTS THE CUP CAFE AT HOTEL CONGRESS AND MAYNARD’S MARKET AND KITCHEN WILL FEATURE SPECIAL MENU ITEMS ALL WEEKEND LONG TO COINCIDE WITH THE FESTIVAL. THE CUP CAFE WILL ALSO FEATURE A DINNER AND A SHOW SPECIAL. LATE NIGHT EATS WILL COME FROM ONE OF TUCSON’S FAVORITE FOOD TRUCKS, ‘RICURAS DE VENEZUELA.’
