Tucson Scooter Rally
November 9,10,11: Tucson-Nogales Fall Classic Scooter Rally!
Tucson is home to one of the oldest running scooter rallies in the country, and this year is the 25th anniversary. It is a unique opportunity to see close to 100 vintage Vespas, Lambrettas, and other post-war scooters right here in T-Town. People come from all over the west coast for this one. ALL scooters are welcome, and we’re seeing more and more modern scooters these days.
Dave’s Big Deluxe
Since forming in the fall of 1991 and playing its first show in a friend’s carport the following spring, Dave’s Big Deluxe has been one of Tuscon’s biggest ska bands. Building on a grass-roots popularity that allowed them to sell nearly 2,000 copies of their first self-produced cd, Sounds from the Credenza, (before it was picked up and reissued by Slimstyle in 1997) Dave’s Big Deluxe became the apostles of the ska scene for all of Arizona. Their relative isolation in the desert has the band develop a unique style that is not bound by East Coast or West Coast ska traditions. That style was shown off on their next two albums, Live at University High Prom (a CD5 that was actually was recorded at a prom) and 1998’s follow-up full-length, Miss Fortune.
buck o nine
Buck-O-Nine has been playing it’s unique brand of ska-punk since early 1992. Since then the band has released five studio albums, toured much of the world, and continues to play shows in and around the southwestern United States.
