25th anniversary world aids day

Please join us for the hallmark 25th Anniversary of World AIDS Day at the Historic Hotel Congress. 25 years ago this mysterious virus claimed lives at an alarming rate. To date, AIDS has taken the lives of 30 million people world wide. We have made major advancements in the fight against HIV/AIDS – in understanding the disease, inventing medicines and decreasing new diagnosis through prevention and awareness measures. This is a reason to celebrate and to remember that we can’t tire in this fight.

The daytime festivities are from 4pm-8pm, and here they are…

eazy duz it tribute & dance party

Eazy E, while unarguably controversial, is a legend among the hip hop and rap world. He died of AIDS in 1995 and while he never apologized for his lifestyle, his dying wish was for people to learn what happened because of his choices. This tribute’s goal is to spread awareness about HIV through his story and make that happen. The evening begins with live music covering classic NWA and Eazy E songs. The show will be followed by the Eazy Duz It Dance Party. Dj Captain Antenna and Phen from Jivin Scientists will be spinning Old Skool tunes while we celebrate the life & musical influence of Eazy E – The Godfather of Gangsta rap.

We are asking for a $5-$10 suggested donation at the door for the night events.

The Pangs

The worst band you have never heard of.

This 2012 commemoration holds even more significance to Tucson. Recently federal funding to Pima county HIV prevention measures were cut nearly 75%. The World AIDS Day committee believes that we need to return to the old School methods of HIV prevention – where the community came together in tireless efforts & countless unpaid hours to increase awareness in Tucson. Please help us celebrate this milestone anniversary, increase global & local awareness and raise money for local HIV/AIDS prevention measures, including the 2013 World AIDS Day.
