When Steven Tracy and Celeste Goguen met, they were living in separate corners of the United States.
Having given up a life of touring with Seattle-based band, The Myriad, Tracy had recently moved back to his hometown of Tucson to open a studio and agreed to produce an album of folk songs for the then Oregon-based Goguen. Skip forward to a year and a half later, however, and the pair are newly married, both living back in their Arizona birthplace, and comprise two-thirds of indie pop act, Amadee, who will release their debut EP, How To Change, in Spring 2017.
The first glimpse of the 4-song set comes in the form of its title track, which requires little explanation given the aforementioned shake up the pair have endured over the past 18 months. As a classically-trained opera singer, however, one of the biggest tests for Goguen was adapting to her new genre, but it’s evident in the opening bars of How To Change, not to mention the densely-layered acapella bridge, that she has already far surpassed that challenge.
The release show for this first single is on January 27th at Hotel Congress in Tucson.
