AZ BE GOOD is a Tucson nonprofit born in reaction to the startling turn our nation has taken in the name of greatness.
COMMUNITIES NOT CAGES is a campaign sponsored by a national coalition under the umbrella Disappeared in America, that shines a spotlight on ICE’s move to lock thousands of people in massive detention warehouses—disappearing them from their families, their lawyers, and their communities. MoveOn AZ-06 Action Cohort will be at the concert with the related petition.
THE FLORENCE PROJECT provides free legal services, social services, and advocacy to immigrants facing detention and potential deportation. For over thirty years, the Florence Project has pursued empowerment and justice for detained immigrants in Arizona. Because detained immigrants do not have a right to a public defender and generally go unrepresented due to poverty, the Florence Project pioneered the Legal Orientation Program, which serves as a national blueprint for the delivery of “Know Your Rights” presentations to people in ICE detention and empowers them to represent themselves and prepare their cases.
MOVEON AZ-06 ACTION COHORT: MoveOn is operating cohorts in key congressional districts this year, advocating to protect our communities from ICE, fund our health care, and create a trained, visible resistance ready to jump in during critical rapid response moments. Arizona’s 6th congressional district encompasses a significant portion of the Tucson metropolitan area, particularly the eastern, northern, and southern suburbs, other parts of Pima and Pinal counties, most of Cochise and Graham, and all of Greenlee County.
PIMA RESISTS ICE (PRICE) is a community coalition in Marana, Arizona, opposing the potential conversion of a former state prison into an ICE detention center. The coalition raises concerns about the implications of such a facility, including potential human rights violations and the strain on local resources. Community members have organized forums and meetings to voice their opposition and discuss the implications of the facility’s establishment, emphasizing the community’s desire to protect local resources and prevent the facility from becoming a prison town.
