John Welsh is a guitar player/composer/educator who has been traversing the subterranean world of American creative music for some 20 odd years. Originally from the beach, John was reared in the desert (PHX metro). He then spent a decade in the tristate area (NY, NJ, CT) where he interacted personally and musically with the likes of Ralph Alessi, Mary Halvorson, Tyshawn Sorey, Brandon Lopez, Anthony Braxton, Joe Morris, Derek Baron, Diane Moser, Nick Jozwiak, Chuck Roth and many, many more. After relocating to Tucson about two years ago, John began to collaborate with Southern Arizona luminaries like Ryan Wheless, Greg Saunier, Kenji Lancaster, and Bo Shimmin. He is honored and thrilled to be asked to present a late night at The Century Room: a beloved venue that has become a hub for amazing music from all over the world. He brings a trio featuring Tucson’s own Kenji Lancaster on drums and the ever-inspiring, ever-proactive Gage Diehl (PHX) on double bass.
