Peter Saxe Quintet | Cool Struttin

($20-$30 Tickets + DICE fees | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows) Chicago pianist Peter Saxe brings his hard-swinging quintet to the Century Room for a night dedicated to Sonny Clark’s 1958 Blue Note masterpiece Cool Struttin’. Known for its effortless groove, the album features some of the most stylish and blues-infused compositions in the hard bop canon. Saxe, a deeply swinging and harmonically rich player, leads an all-star ensemble through Clark’s iconic tunes like “Blue Minor,” “Sippin’ at Bells,” and, of course, the title track, channeling the spirit of late-’50s New York jazz.

The evening is part of our Classic Album” series and is presented with Wooden Tooth Records, which boasts one of the best jazz collections for sale in Downtown Tucson.
