Clarinet dreamscapes amongst a sea of melodious waltzes, the billowing sounds of early American jazz, gypsy jazz, and Balkan folk music make up the core sounds of Juniper Djinn. The duos originals reflect a familiar feeling of 30s & 40s nostalgia and timeless tunes ingrained deep within traditional American and European jazz. The duo is best known for their live performances in which they play an array of genres spanning across decades of time and regularly features other musicians from across the globe.
Singer, clarinet player, and rhythm guitarist Jessica Fleet is the main vocal of the group with a voice that has been described as an angel and a demon singing in harmony with her powerful vocals, dynamic vocal range, and deep growl. Famed Baby Gramps quoted her as his “favorite singer” and compared her to the great Bessie Johnson. “That voice is a force of nature and hearing it’s a bright balm shining like a birth cake emerging from a dark wood”. – Charlie Unhau
Multi-instrumentalist Bill Stoller is the other half of the duo with his incredible, studious guitar playing, rhythmic accompaniment, accordion and upright bass on the duos albums. Bokani Dyer, an acclaimed pianist, composer, and bandleader, is one of South Africa’s most formidable and creative talents. He explores musical traditions and their cultural roles, deeply engaging with the complex question of identity. Hailed as the future of South African Jazz, he won the Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year award in 2011 and continues to earn accolades worldwide. His trio album Neo Native won the 2019 SAMA award for Best Jazz Album, and that year, he performed at London’s iconic Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
Dyer innovatively embraces tradition to build a more equitable future, reflecting this in his distinctive piano style and contemporary musical concepts. His latest album, Radio Sechaba (Brownswood, 2023), merges his diverse influences, highlighting his vocal and lyrical exploration.
In spring 2025, he brings his trio to the U.S., delivering infectious rhythms, African-inspired melodies, and virtuosic piano. A rising star on the global stage, Dyer blends modernism with tradition, forging a signature sound rich in heritage yet refreshingly original.

Harold Arlen was an American composer, arranger, pianist, and vocalist who contributed such popular songs as “Over the Rainbow,” “Blues in the Night,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” “I Love a Parade,” “Stormy Weather” and over 500 more songs to Hollywood movies and Broadway musicals. Arlen was most prolific from 1929 through the 1950s.
Born in 1905, Arlen was the son of a Jewish cantor and pianist and showed exceptional musical talent in childhood. He left school as a teenager to form a band, and, until he was 24, he made a living chiefly as a performer and arranger. Thereafter he concentrated on composition, beginning a successful collaboration with the lyricist Ted Koehler in 1929 with the song “Get Happy.” From the late 1920s until the mid-1930s Arlen and Koehler wrote a number of songs, including “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea” and “I’ve Got the World on a String,” that were featured in shows at Harlem’s Cotton Club. Arlen’s work for the Broadway stage included scores for the musicals You Said It (1931); Life Begins at 8:40 (1934); Hooray for What? (1937); Bloomer Girl (1944); St. Louis Woman (1946) and Saratoga (1959), both with lyrics by Johnny Mercer; and House of Flowers (1954), with lyrics by Truman Capote.
For Hollywood films, Arlen wrote, among other songs, “It’s Only a Paper Moon,” “Let’s Fall in Love,” Groucho Marx’s theme song “Lydia the Tatoo’d Lady,” and “That Old Black Magic.” “Over the Rainbow” (lyrics by E.Y. Harburg), introduced by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz (1939) and used thereafter as her theme, won him a 1939 Academy Award. Arlen also worked with Ira Gershwin on music for the film The Country Girl (1954), starring Bing Crosby, and he recorded as a vocalist with Leo Reisman and Cole Porter.

—FAETOOTH—Faetooth is a three-piece “fairy doom” band originating from Los Angeles. The group is composed of Ari May as guitarist and vocalist, Jenna Garcia as bassist and vocalist, and Rah Kanan on drums. Formed in 2019, the group sought to navigate personal vulnerability and musical experimentation by delving deep into the nature of self, the beauty inherent in the natural world, and the captivating mysteries that surround us.
Drawing inspiration from doom metal, black metal, shoegaze, and sludge, the term “fairy-doom” aptly characterizes their distinctive fusion of sounds.

A native of North Carolina, Dave Potter began playing drum set in high school and starting performing with his elders in the Triangle area at the age of 16. Following his graduation from Florida State University, he was chosen from a national pool of applicants to be a member of the Louis Armstrong Quintet at the University of New Orleans. Unfortunately, the tragedy of hurricane Katrina temporarily ended his hopes for a career in Louisiana. Soon after, Dave was awarded a full scholarship to the prestigious Julliard Jazz Program in New York City. However, after several days of intense meditation he declined the offer and returned to Florida State University, where he received his Master’s Degree after further collaboration with his mentor Marcus Roberts. In 2010, Potter was featured in a novel entitled “The New Face of Jazz” about the younger generation of Jazz musicians making an impact in the current scene. Dave is now located in Atlanta where he maintains a busy teaching and performing schedule while also touring the globe as a member of The Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet, Greg Tardy, Eric Reed, and Marcus Roberts, as well as his new project as a leader, Retro Groove

The Bad Plus
The Bad Plus are a band known for their originality, creative vision, and refusal to conform. Over the past two decades, they have carved out a unique space in music, gaining critical acclaim and a global following for their adventurous spirit and rule-breaking approach. Known for their lively performances and genre-defying sound, the band has continuously pushed musical boundaries.
The group’s core members, Reid Anderson (bass) and Dave King (drums), are now leading the band into a new era without a pianist, teaming up with guitarist Ben Monder and tenor saxophonist Chris Speed. This change has brought a fresh sense of excitement and energy to their music, re-invigorating their sound and inspiring new creative possibilities. The Bad Plus remains dedicated to exploring a wide range of genres and techniques, always searching for ways to challenge and complement each other musically.
Their 18th album, “Complex Emotions” to be released via Mack Avenue Records on November 8th, reflects this ongoing evolution. As the band members themselves put it, “Evolution is necessary for life and creativity. We’ve evolved, but we’re still The Bad Plus.”

Chuck Redd
Chuck Redd, an internationally acclaimed drummer and vibraphonist, kicked off his global musical journey with the Charlie Byrd Trio at the age of 21. With a noteworthy career spanning 25 European tours and six tours of Japan alongside jazz luminaries like Barney Kessel and Mel Torme, Chuck’s rhythmic mastery is underscored by his roles as the 2019 musical director of The Oregon Festival of American Music and a featured soloist at prominent jazz festivals.

—GLIXEN—Eluding all expectations of the current alternative rock space, Glixen come from Phoenix, Arizona and have taken their sound coast to coast on tour in North America. As influences, lead vocalist/guitarist Aislinn Ritchie cites My Bloody Valentine, No Doubt, and T.A.T.U. In the same breath, also citing heavier acts such as HUM and My Vitriol. Ritchie founded Glixen in 2020 and later added the talents of lead guitarist Esteban Santana, drummer Keire Johnson, and bassist Sonia Garcia.
Glixen released their debut EP She Only Said via Julias War Records on August 11th, 2023. The lead single Splendor sets the tone of the EP by masterfully capturing the swirling ambiance of 90s rock, ethereal pop vocals, and fuzzed out walls of guitar all wrapped up in a lacey white ribbon. She Only Said is a cathartic anthem that feels like glitter and thorns down the listeners spine.

—THE OLD 97’S—Formed in Dallas, Texas, Old 97’s first emerged in the early ’90s with an adrenaline pumping blend of rock and roll swagger, punk snarl, and old-school twang that quickly brought them into the national spotlight. Conventional wisdom places the band at the forefront of a musical movement that would come to be known as “alternative country,” but, as the New York Times so succinctly put it, their sound always “leaned more toward the Clash than the Carter Family.” Fueled by breakneck tempos, distorted guitars, and wry storytelling, the foursome built a reputation for high-energy albums and even higher energy shows, earning themselves performances everywhere from Conan and Letterman to Bonnaroo and Lollaplooza alongside countless rave reviews. NPR lauded the group as a “pioneering force,” while Rolling Stone hailed their music’s “whiskey-wrecked nihilism and slow-burn heartbreak,” and The New Yorker praised their songwriting as “blistered, blasted, and brilliant.” On top of his prodigious output with Old 97’s, Miller simultaneously established himself as a prolific solo artist, as well, releasing eight studio albums under his own name that garnered similarly wide-ranging acclaim and landed in a slew of prominent film and television soundtracks. A gifted writer beyond his music, Miller also contributed essays and short stories to The Atlantic, Salon, McSweeney’s, and Sports Illustrated among others, and in 2019, he released his debut book, a collection of poetry for children, via Little, Brown and Company.

with Weekend Lovers and New Misphoria
—WEATHERDAY—Weatherday is the noise-pop project of the mononymous Swedish artist Sputnik. While they have also found success with their side project, Lola’s Pocket PC, it is their cult-acclaimed album Come in that has garnered them a large and dedicated following through its raucous musical universe and serpentine sparklepunk stylings. Often heralded as an achievement of lo-fi bedroom pop tangled with threads of emo and DIY, Come in is better described, in its author’s own words, as a “life goal.”
The initial spark that ignited the fiery, heated debut from Weatherday originated from Sputnik’s desire to write, perform, and produce a record all on their own, from the ground up. Starting in 2014-2015, their preliminary attempts at what would eventually become Come in first materialized as a shoegaze EP, and then a dream-pop meets chamber-pop LP. Ever the perfectionist though, Sputnik wasn’t satisfied with the results and deleted the releases without a trace, finally deciding to set out in the direction of something more akin to their longtime influences of emo and its various subgenres.
After two years of tinkering in this stylistic sweetspot, Sputnik settled on the eleven knotted, maximal tracks that comprise Come in. From the caustic, harsh peaks of “Sleep in while you’re doing your best” to the soothing piano-laden passages of “Embarrassing paintings” and experimental, granular coda of “Water dreamer the same,” the range of Weatherday’s debut is doubtlessly a product of an artist who refuses to compromise a single shred of their vision.

Felíz and her band will explore jazz standards in musical theatre from every decade since the 1920s. With household hits like My Favorite Things, On The Street Where You Live, and Anything Goes. This toe-tapping night of live music is sure to enthrall Jazz and Musical Theatre fans alike bringing to light the influence that American Musical Theatre has made on the world of Jazz through the decades.
This musical revue stars local vocalist Felíz Torralba whose background in musical theatre and Jazz date back to childhood. Torralba has long collaborated with local theatre companies as a music director and actress. She has, in adult life, found a deep love for jazz and finds it to resonate with those theatre roots. Felíz would like to educate and entertain the Century Room audience about those connections between musical theatre and jazz standards as they have influenced her as an artist.

Twenty-six-year-old Isaiah Collier is a musical virtuoso in the truest sense of the phrase. He began playing saxophone at age 11, and his intuitive proficiency earned him attention early on. Ever since, his band Isaiah Collier and The Chosen Few has been turning ears.
In February 2025 he was featured on NPR’s “Jazz Night In America”. The Chicago Tribune named him Jazz Artists of the Year for 2024. His recording The Almighty (Division 81 Records, 2024) was selected as one of the Top Ten Jazz Recordings of 2024 by The New York Times. He was featured in The New York Times Fall Arts Preview in September 2024. Downbeat Magazine selected him as one of 25 for the future in their 90th Anniversary issue in July 2024. He won the Rising Star Award in Downbeat Magazine’s critics poll for Tenor Saxophone (2023), and Soprano Saxophone (2024), and has been named a Steve Jobs Fellow.

Ken Wagner is a multi-instrumentalist and educator. He has performed alongside artists such as Melissa Aldana, Lewis Nash, Wycliffe Gordon, Sean Jones, Jimmy Greene, and many others. He has worked extensively as a freelance musician, performing in a variety of styles, including jazz, americana, country, bluegrass, and ambient music.
Nate Gilbreath is a versatile trombone player and composer that aims to break the sonic mold of his instrument. Primarily a student of the jazz tradition, Gilbreath aims to incorporate sounds from the classical, R&B, and fusion styles into his playing and writing. Gilbreath currently plays, studies and gigs around the San Francisco Bay area and has been mentored by Joshua Redman and Andre Hayward, while receiving praise from legendary trumpet players Ambrose Akinmusire and Marcus Printup.
Max Holmberg is a Seattle-based drummer, bandleader, and educator who began playing drums at age two and studied at Berklee College of Music. He performs with many groups like Boss Tenors and the Danny Kolke Trio, and is known as one of the most sought-after drum teachers in the Pacific Northwest. Max has toured internationally, collaborated with prominent musicians, and been a featured guest artist at several universities, while also running jam sessions and occasionally performing in Broadway shows.
Roman Goron is a 19-year-old French-Filipino-American Jazz Pianist and Composer based in Seattle, WA. Through the piano, Roman aims to bridge his passions for sound, visual imagery and storytelling. Focused on playing harmonically rich acoustic jazz, Roman leads his own trio, the Roman Goron Trio, with whom he performs regularly. He also arranges and composes original material.
George Fulton is a saxophonist from Seattle, Washington. He currently attends Berklee College of Music in Boston where he has studied with musical luminaries George Garzone, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Walter Smith III. He has a deep reverence for the traditions of Jazz and world music, and loves good art.

Born and raised in the American Southwest, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Eliana Joy offers an expressively emotional sensitivity to audiences and collaborators alike. Following her graduation from Arizona State University, Eliana spent a season in the Santa Fe Opera’s media department. She then moved to Brooklyn and swiftly established herself in the jazz scene, combining her eclectic influences to explore The Great American Songbook as a medium of storytelling and social connection. As a member of the Women in Jazz Organization’s Mentors Program, she studied with New York Voices member Lauren Kinhan. She has played across the country in iconic venues like Ornithology and Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn, NY, The Mine Shaft Tavern in Madrid, NM, and The Century Room in Tucson, AZ. Now based in Santa Fe, NM, Eliana performs actively as a solo singer-songwriter, an enthusiastic bandleader, and a frequent guest with the indie/folk project Lamby–all in the outrageously southwestern setting of sculpture galleries, wine gardens, and tourist trains.

Jerry Joseph is a musician who lives in Portland Oregon, but he’s often gone. He’s been inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame but is still rather obscure to a lot of people. He plays well over 150 shows a year in the usual places. Across America. Sometimes in Europe, Mexico, and Central America. Then there’s these other places he plays—Lebanon, Israel, Kurdish Iraq, India, and Afghanistan. All over the Middle East, often in war zones and refugee camps.
In addition to his touring, Jerry has set up a non-profit called Nomad Music Foundation that acts as a sort of School of Rock for displaced teenagers in areas of conflict. So far, he has taken guitars and taught lessons in camps in Kabul, Afghanistan, and Sulaymaniyah and Dahuk, both in Kurdish Iraq. These life-changing missions have been written up in Rolling Stone, Relix, and PBS News Hour.
Oh yeah, and he’s really fucking great.
A triple threat—someone who works at the highest levels as a songwriter, singer, and player. Jason Isbell, who kinda personifies such, recently tweeted about triple threats and listed Jerry Joseph (along with Richard Thompson and St. Vincent) among the greatest examples of that phenomenon.
Most likely, if you know who Jerry is, you agree, but there’s also a big chance that you don’t. His talent, drive, work ethic, amazing body of work, and flat out badass-ness make him one of the most underrated and tragically overlooked artists alive today. He deserves better, and I’m hoping to help shine a light on who and what Jerry Joseph is and why you should listen to what he’s doing and saying.
First off, there’s the body of work. Jerry Joseph has been playing shows and making records since the 80s, first in a band called Little Women that at one point looked destined to be huge, but this is a crazy business and sometimes things just don’t go as planned. By the 90s Jerry was struggling with addiction while also creating the beginnings of a vast body of work as a solo artist and burning up the road backed by a mighty band called The Jackmormons. They built a considerable following in the great Northwest. Many of Jerry’s songs were recorded by the band Widespread Panic, and there are many people who know of Jerry through that connection. Later, after getting clean, Jerry toured and made some albums as part of Stockholm Syndrome, a sort of supergroup he formed with Panic bassist David Schools, who himself is an incredible musician. Much of Jerry’s following in the so-called jam band circles is through his affiliation with these bands.
Musical taste is a funny thing. People who are into one or another genre of music often don’t pay much attention to musicians who fall outside of those forms. The age of streaming and the internet have broadened things considerably, but there is still a form of segregation that occurs across various boundaries, often accompanied by derision for stylistic forms outside certain circles. I have spent much of my life rebelling against this way of listening, while sometimes still being as guilty as anyone about this exact thing. I’ve always been drawn to songwriters and the writerly aspects of music, and with some glaring exceptions, there has always been a disconnect between the so-called jam music scene and the so-called singer/songwriter genre. The fact that Jerry is a writer’s writer who has been mostly known in “jammy” circles has always made him somewhat an anomaly.
I have also always been partial to punk rock, yet there has always been a wall separating punk bands from jam bands, even though Black Flag, The National, Sonic Youth, and many of the legendary punk bands through the years have always proclaimed themselves massive Grateful Dead fans. I know Jerry Joseph to be a die-hard fan of all kinds of music across many genres, and there have been seeds of those many genres in most of his many records. Underneath it all, to me, he’s always been a punk rocker at the core.
Jerry, to me is a cult figure who could, in some alternate reality, have easily been one of the biggest stars in the world. One of the greatest live performers I have ever seen and long one of my favorite songwriters. I can’t hear the chorus of San Acacia without picturing Jerry singing it in front of 100,000 screaming fans, in a soccer stadium in Brazil. In the pouring rain. With everyone singing along.

Peter Bernstein was born in New York City in 1967. He has been playing and recording since 1990 when he first appeared on recordings with Lou Donaldson and the organ trio of Larry Goldings and Bill Stewart, a group still touring and recording today. Peter played in Lou Donaldson’s group for 10 years as well as performing and recording with Joshua Redman’s group 1995-97. Other associations and collaborations include Jimmy Cobb, Dr. Lonnie Smith, David Fathead Newman, Brad Mehldau, Etta Jones, Melvin Rhyne, Diana Krall, Bobby Hutcherson, Lee Konitz, Nicholas Payton, George Coleman, and Sonny Rollins. Peter has played on festival, concert, and club stages all over the world since the early 90’s. He has been a regular performer at the world famous Village Vanguard for over two decades
He has appeared on over 300 recordings with these musicians and many of his contemporaries as well as 14 records under his own name. These recordings have featured many of his own compositions and musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, Greg Hutchinson, Jimmy Cobb, Bill Stewart, Larry Grenadier, Gerald Clayton, Sullivan Fortner, Peter Washington, Doug Weiss, and Joe Farnsworth among others. PAUL GREEN
Paul began playing harmonica in 1968, inspired by both country and urban blues artists. His professional musical career began in New Jersey in 1971 with the Blackberry Booze Band. Moving to Oakland California in 1975, He became a member of the house band at a popular blues spot Eli’s mile high club, performing there weekly and recording two albums on the Red Lightning label out of England with JJ Malone and Troyce Key. From 1975 to 1989 he performed throughout the Bay Area with his own band and other musicians including Sonny Rhodes, Little Frankie Lee, “JJ Bad Boy” Jones, Cool Papa, Percy Mayfield, Lowell Fulson, Pee Wee Crayton, John Little John, and many others.
In 1989 he relocated to Chicago where he continued to perform at such legendary blues clubs as Buddy Guy’s, Rosa’s, The Kingston Mine’s, and Blues Etc., and shared the stage with such notables as Junior Wells and Sugar Blue.
Relocating to Seattle in 1991, Paul won the Washington Blues Society award for the “Best Blues Harmonica” in 1992. Since then he has won that award multiple times and the Blues Society eventually named the annual “Best Blues Harmonica” award after him. He has also won the award for “Best Vocalist” twice. In 2008 he was voted into the Washington Blues Society Hall Of Fame, and in 2017 he received their Life Time Achievement Award.

($25-$35 | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows) “Virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone” (New York Times) Grammy-winning identical twins and Juilliard graduates Peter and Will Anderson will present the life and music of Cole Porter, with an entertaining narrative and live music with their quintet featuring drummer Arthur Vint.
Songs will include “Night & Day,” “Begin the Beguine,” “I Get a Kick out of You,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and “Just One of Those Things.”
Born and raised in Washington D.C., the Anderson’s have headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Feinstein’s 54 Below, live on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, and can be heard on the Grammy-winning soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.
Vanity Fair magazine listed their debut album alongside Miles Davis in “Four New Releases to Make You Love Jazz,” and the Washington Post called their music “imaginatively unfolding in ways that consistently bring a fresh perspective to classic jazz.” Peter and Will received a 2014 Drama Desk nomination for their Off-Broadway Show, Le Jazz Hot (one of eight of their productions at 59E59 Theaters), and are 2018 Bistro Award winners.

ASHLIN PARKER
A versatile jazz trumpeter based in New Orleans, Ashlin Parker is sought after for big band, small ensemble, and solo performances. He has played with various ensembles at jazz festivals and clubs in Australia, Barbados, Bermuda, Brazil, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, and Wales. Ashlin leads the Trumpet Mafia and plays regularly with ensembles in New Orleans, such as the Ellis Marsalis Quintet, The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and Bill Summers and Jazalsa.
CLARK GIBSON
Clark Gibson is a jazz saxophonist, composer and the Director of Education at The Nash in Phoenix, AZ. He is a highly sought after adjudicator and clinician throughout the country. His forward-thinking music is strongly rooted in the traditions of jazz musicians of the 20th century, the history of Western classical music, his own life experiences, as well as musical traditions from cultures across the globe.
PAT BIANCHI
Pat Bianchi has never been afraid to take the concepts of “Jazz Organ” into new directions. His playing draws from a wide range of musical influences including organists Dr. Lonnie Smith and Joey DeFrancesco (both who mentored Bianchi in his early years) but also encompasses other instrumentalists and approaches that stretch beyond the Hammond B-3 world. The result is a unique and creative voice of the organ that acknowledges the tradition while looking forward at the same moment.

Drummer, composer, educator and general musical impresario Arthur Vint has been described as a ‘musical chameleon’ as he is able to shape-shift to meet the needs of any style of music and always does so with the right colors for the job. Equally adept at playing modern jazz, early jazz, big band, salsa, country, pop or rock, his drumming style is based around a strong sense of time and arrangement, leading the band from behind with creative grooves and textures.

Jumaane Smith is a renowned trumpeter and vocalist who has spent the last 18 years touring and recording with Michael Bublé as the lead trumpeter, vocalist, and featured soloist. He has also been a key member of Harry Connick Jr.’s house band for the TV show Harry and the featured guest soloist for Jackie Evancho’s “Songs of the Silver Screen” tour, backed by a 60-piece symphony orchestra. In addition to touring with his own band, Jumaane has performed at world-class venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Vail Jazz Festival, Birdland Jazz Club, and the Rochester International Jazz Festival.
Smith’s critically-acclaimed debut album I Only Have Eyes for You features guest appearances by Michael Bublé and Jackie Evancho, and his most recent release, Come on Home (2024), has been highly praised. A Juilliard graduate, Smith has collaborated with musical icons like Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Christian McBride, and Barbra Streisand, solidifying his place as a versatile and accomplished artist in the jazz world.

International touring artists Diane Van Deurzen & Lisa Otey are a dynamic duo, a perfect blend of hot jazz, sultry blues and boogie-woogie. They take their act to festivals, clubs and theatres around the world and are known for creating an atmosphere of intimacy with their humor and joyful interactions with the audience.
Performances include the Thredbo Blues Festival in Australia; Box Factory for the Arts, Michigan; Yardbird Suite in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Blues in Bisbee and Tucson Folk Festivals, Arizona; Le Bilboquet and Caveau de la Huchette jazz clubs in Paris; Yoshi’s in California; Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado in Sonora, Mexico; Wild Rose Moon in Indiana; Silver City Blues Fest in New Mexico; and the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland.
Diane Van Deurzen and Lisa Otey have been inducted into the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. Lisa has also been inducted into the Tucson Music Hall of Fame and appeared on the Grammy-nominated CD, “Ladies Man” with Pinetop Perkins.
Diane and Lisa have co-produced several CDs on their label, Owl’s Nest Productions, including Diane’s “I Never Knew”, Lisa’s “Trio”, “Bring Your Own Boa” for Lisa Otey and the Desert Divas, and Diane & Lisa’s duo CDs, “You Got What I Want”, “Wild Women” and their Christmas hit, “Meet Me Under the Mistletoe”.
Diane grew up in rural Wisconsin, one of 7 children in a blue-collar community that centered around the paper mill and dairy farms near Appleton. Her father nurtured her love of singing by introducing her to the albums of Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald. Diane also loved poetry, which influenced her style as a lyricist. Diane always created opportunities to perform professionally, singing in bands, working in theatre and making recordings, alongside her career as a nurse in Wisconsin and, since 1992, as a teacher in Arizona. Lisa grew up in a rural community outside of Portland, OR, one of 3 children in a family of musicians. Lisa moved to Arizona in 1984 to study jazz piano and begin her career performing and also working in theatre. In 2005, Diane & Lisa began performing as a duo. They tour across Europe, Australia, the US, Canada, and Mexico. They now live in St. Joe, Michigan, and tour extensively throughout the Midwest.

She moved to NYC in 2016 to study under Stefon Harris at The New School, a mentorship that profoundly shaped her artistic voice.
Sasha debuted on the NYC jazz scene at Winter Jazz Fest 2018, later performing at major festivals like Atlanta Jazz Fest. In 2019, she became the first U.S. recipient of the LetterOne “Rising Stars” Jazz Award, touring North America and releasing her acclaimed debut album Azalea, blending jazz, alternative, and political themes. Her groundbreaking work earned a nomination for JazzTimes’ “Best New Release.”
Named the youngest and first female winner of Downbeat’s Critics’ Poll for “Rising Star – Vibraphone” in 2020, Sasha has headlined global venues like Newport Jazz Festival and collaborated with artists such as Tyshawn Sorey and Cecile McLorin Salvant. A prominent fixture in the New York City music scene since the late ’90s, electric guitarist Luca Benedetti has worked with a wide range of artists and groups, including Jim Campilongo, Hermine Deurloo & Steve Gadd, Ron Carter, Martha Redbone, and former Brooklynite Arthur Vint & Associates. As a solo artist and producer, Benedetti has earned critical acclaim from Relix Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, Gitarre & Bass, Saving Country Music, and Vintage Guitar Magazine, among others.
New York-based jazz musician Tony Scherr plays acoustic and electric bass and guitar in a variety of line-ups. He played with Woody Herman while a teenager. A prolific session musician he’s worked with John Scofield, Norah Jones, Bill Frisell, Ani DiFranco, Al Di Meola, and more. He’s been a member of numerous bands such as The Lounge Lizards, Sex Mob, Jesse Harris and the Ferdinados, and Chris Brown and the Citizen Band.
New York City drummer Tony Mason has toured and recorded with John Scofield, Joan Osborne, Norah Jones, Charlie Hunter, and many others. In the studio, Tony has worked with producers Nile Rodgers, Camu Celli, Ron St. Jermaine, Matt Pierson and the legendary Russ Titleman; he has also played on many commercials and television shows.
The trio has recorded two albums of original material, “We’ll Get There” (2019) and “Ride Awhile” (2023).

—DAIISTAR— Alt-Indie band formed in Austin, Texas in the spring of 2020. The band takes their inspiration from the neo-psychedelic era of the 80s and 90s (The Jesus and Mary Chain, Spacemen 3, Primal Scream) and pulls it into the future with modulating synthesizers, heavy guitars, bouncing bass lines, and spiraling hooks, creating a narcotic blend of noise and melody. DAIISTAR recorded their first studio album produced by Alex Maas of The Black Angels and engineered by James Petralli of White Denim in the summer of 2021. The band signed to UK based label Fuzz Club Records with their debut album GOOD TIME released on September 8th 2023. The album is available on vinyl including a Levitation Exclusive Edition pressing, as well as CD and digital. DAIISTAR has performed at SXSW, Levitation Austin, Levitation France, Barcelona Psych Fest, KEXP, KUTX and has toured with The Black Angels, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, and The Dandy Warhols. In May 2024 DAIISTAR released a 7″ Limited Pressing of their single “Clear” Backed by Spacemen 3 co-founder Peter Kember aka SONIC BOOM’s remix of the ‘Good Time’ album track “Velvet Reality” on the B-side.

***Angelina Ramirez*** is a flamenco movement artist and teaching artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Her work explores queer, Latinx identity in traditional flamenco dance and focuses on arts and healing, particularly for elders and autistic individuals. She promotes accessibility, fights ableism and racism, and curates the Traditional and Ethnic Dance Festival for the Southwest Folklife Alliance.

—RAYNES—British-American trio Raynes formed when Mat Charley and Joe Berger, both born and raised in North Dakota, came across a video of UK native Mark Race on Instagram and fell in love–first with his face, then with his voice. After a few messages and phone calls, Mark was on a plane to the US to start a band (a few months later, he had the flight number tattooed on his arm).
Since then, Raynes has signed with Sony Music Publishing and released six singles and three EPs, drawing hundreds of thousands of monthly listeners and tens of millions of streams and earning press in Billboard and People. They’ve performed in clubs, concert halls, and amphitheaters across the US and the UK, developing a reputation as a high-energy live act.
Known for their intricate vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation as well as their poetic lyrics, Raynes has yet to come up with a good answer as to what genre their music falls under. With all three members coming from different musical backgrounds, the boys combine their diverse influences to form a group that draws inspiration from around the globe, incorporating elements of folk, rock, and chamber pop with Celtic and world music to create a wholly original-and difficult to categorize-sound.

Daniel Rodriguez is a dynamic figure in the Americana psychedelic folk rock scene, crafting songs that resonate with depth, authenticity, and a touch of magic. Originally a founding member and key songwriter for Elephant Revival, he has since established a prolific solo career that transcends the roots of his musical beginnings. Known for penning Elephant Revival classics like “Birds and Stars”, Daniel embarked on a solo journey following the band’s dissolution in 2018. –MARGO CILKER– Margo Cilker’s sophomore album, Valley of Heart’s Delight, refers to a place she can’t return: California’s Santa Clara Valley, as it was known before the orchards were paved over and became more famous for Silicon than apricots. In this 11-song follow-up to 2021’s critically acclaimed Pohorylle, family and nature intertwine as guiding motifs, at once precious and endangered, beautiful and exhausting. Cilker and Pohorylle producer Sera Cahoone brought most of that record’s highly-acclaimed crew (studio players for The Decemberists, Band Of Horses, and Beirut) back to the studio with additional contributions from acclaimed Northwest traditionalist Caleb Klauder. –JAMES MCMURTRY– In James McMurtry’s new effort, The Horses and the Hounds, the acclaimed songwriter backs personal narratives with effortless elegance (“Canola Fields”) and endless energy (“If It Don’t Bleed”). This first collection in seven years, out August 20, 2021 on New West Records, spotlights a seasoned tunesmith in peak form as he turns toward reflection (“Vaquero”) and revelation ( closer “Blackberry Winter”). Familiar foundations guide the journey. “There’s a definite Los Angeles vibe to this record,” McMurtry says. “The ghost of Warren Zevon seems to be stomping around among the guitar tracks. Don’t know how he got in there. He never signed on for work for hire.”
The Horses and the Hounds is a reunion of sorts. McMurtry recorded the new album with legendary producer Ross Hogarth (John Fogerty, Van Halen, Keb’ Mo’) at Jackson Browne’s Groovemaster’s in Santa Monica, California, a world class studio that has housed such legends as Bob Dylan (2012’s Tempest) and David Crosby (2016’s Lighthouse) as well as Browne himself for I’m Alive (1993) and New Found Glory, Coming Home (2006). McMurtry and Hogarth first worked together 30 years ago, when Hogarth was a recording engineer in the employ of John Mellencamp at Mellencamp’s own Belmont Studios near Bloomington, Indiana. Hogarth recorded McMurtry’s first two albums, Too Long in the Wasteland and Candyland, for Columbia Records and later mixed McMurtry’s first self-produced album, Saint Mary of the Woods, for Sugar Hill Records. Another veteran of those three releases, guitarist David Grissom (Joe Ely, John Mellencamp, Dixie Chicks), returns with some of his finest work.
Accordingly, the new collection marks another upward trajectory: The Horses and the Hounds will be McMurtry’s debut album on genre-defining Americana record label New West Records (Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Buddy Miller, dozens more).
“I first became aware of James McMurtry’s formidable songwriting prowess while working at Bug Music Publishing in the ’90s,” says New West president John Allen. “He’s a true talent. All of us at New West are excited at the prospect of championing the next phase of James’ already successful and respected career.” McMurtry perfectly fits a label housing “artists who perform real music for real people.” After all, No Depression says of the literate songwriter’s most recent collection, Complicated Game: “Lyrically, the album is wise and adventurous, with McMurtry — who’s not prone to autobiographical tales — credibly inhabiting characters from all walks of life.” “[McMurtry] fuses wry, literate observations about the world with the snarl of barroom rock,” National Public Radio says. “The result is at times sardonic, subversive and funny, but often vulnerable and always poignant.”
His lauded storytelling — check out songs such as “Operation Never Mind” and “Ft. Walton Wake-Up Call” on The Horse and the Hounds— consistently has turned heads for decades now. “James writes like he’s lived a lifetime,” said John Mellencamp back in 1989, when Too Long in the Wasteland hit the Billboard 200. “James McMurtry is one of my very few favorite songwriters on Earth and these days he’s working at the top of his game,” says Americana all-star Jason Isbell. “He has that rare gift of being able to make a listener laugh out loud at one line and choke up at the next. I don’t think anybody writes better lyrics.” McMurtry’s albums Just Us Kids (2008) and Childish Things (2005) back the claim, each scoring endless critical praise. The former earned McMurtry his highest Billboard 200 chart position in two decades (since eclipsed by Complicated Game) and notched Americana Music Award nominations. Childish Things spent six full weeks topping the Americana Music Radio chart in 2005 and 2006, and won the Americana Music Association’s Album of the Year, with “We Can’t Make It Here” named the organization’s Song of the Year.
Other accolades include a 1996 Grammy nomination for Long Form Music Video for Where’d You Hide the Body and an American Indie Award for Best Americana Album for It Had to Happen (1997).
McMurtry tours year-round and consistently throws down unparalleled powerhouse performances, reflected in the release of two live discs: the universally lauded Live in Aught-Three on Compadre Records, and 2009’s Live in Europe, which captured the McMurtry band’s first European tour and extraordinary live set. Along with seasoned band members Ronnie Johnson, Daren Hess, and Tim Holt, Live in Europe features special guests Ian McLagan (Faces) and Jon Dee Graham (True Believers, Skunks).
