Adam Larson | The Music of Michael Brecker | Night 1
($25-$35 + DICE fees | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows)
Adam Larson is a Chicago-born, New York-based tenor saxophonist who has emerged as one of the sharper voices in contemporary jazz. His playing draws from the post-bop tradition, harmonically fluent and technically assured, with a directness that keeps it from feeling academic. He has built his reputation steadily through bandleading, recording, and sideman work across some of the most demanding contexts in the music.
This concert brings Larson’s focus to the compositions of Michael Brecker, whose imprint on the tenor saxophone over the last half century remains unmatched. The program includes “Song for Bilbao,” one of Brecker’s most enduring melodic statements, and “Nothing Personal,” a track that showcases the harmonic complexity and rhythmic intensity that defined his writing. Larson knows this material deeply and plays it with full command.
