Elisabeth Geel Singer/Songwriter Matinee
($10-$15 tickets | 5pm matinee) Netherlands-born Elisabeth Geel is a singer-songwriter with a distinctive guitar style and warm, powerful mezzo soprano vocals. Her compositions are characterized by complex jazz-influenced structures and harmonies, and by cerebral, but straight-from-the-heart lyrics.
She credits Joni Mitchell and Laura Nyro as early influences, but throughout her career she has been inspired by artists from a wide range of genres and cultures. As a songwriter she evolved by distilling these influences into her own unique writing style.
Elisabeth has lived most of her life in Italy, where she performed at music clubs, concert halls, and festivals across the country, backed by some of the most prominent Italian jazz musicians (Fabrizio Bosso, Federico Malaman, Lino Brotto, Bruno Cesselli, Massimo Manzi, etc.). For over a decade she toured Europe and the Middle East performing at luxury resorts and casinos. She has exhibited her vocal skills as a duet partner and session vocalist on numerous recordings, and she has written songs for other artists. Elisabeth currently lives in Tucson. Elisabeth has released four solo albums of originals: So Cool (2006), Preface to a Dream (2009), Lookin’ In from the Outside (2016), and A Monument to Madness (2021).
