**Bassist/composer Marcos Varela, a Creative Capital Award winner, has toured and recorded with jazz luminaries like Geri Allen, Leslie Odom Jr., and the Mingus Big Band. His debut album, “San Ygnacio,” praised by Ron Carter, earned critical acclaim, with Jazziz Magazine calling it one of the top releases of 2016 and NPR Music naming it a “Top Debut.” Varela, also an accomplished composer for Domenica Scorsese’s film “Roots in Water,” teaches at the New School and Montclair State University.
