Drawing from the deep well of Black musical genius- the cosmic soul of Roy Ayers, the crate wizardry of J Dilla, the smooth fire of Bob James and George Benson, and the neo-soul mastery of D’Angelo — the group transforms these classic sounds into something alive and in the moment.

Featuring ReyMurf and Roch Mirabeau on vocals and beats, Ryan Wheless on saxophone and FX, Desmond New and Troy Covington holding down a double-drum groove, and Patrick Morris on bass, The Newest Sound channels the spirit of Robert Glasper’s generation: honoring the lineage while pushing it forward.
