—ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO— Alejandro Escovedo’s new album, Echo Dancing, is an adventure in life. No one has really been able to define themselves and their music like singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo. His life in music sometimes feels like a swirl through the sky, where his songs point out all the majesty and mystery of how he sees the world. The sounds he makes take him places that he might not even predict, but once there, greatness always follows. It’s just the way Escovedo is. It has happened over and over for decades, almost like a fateful agreement he has with the cosmos. There is a good chance it cannot be explained, especially by him.
—DAVE GONZALES— Dave Gonzalez is a preeminent American roots music guitarist, singer, and songwriter. In 1980, he co-founded the rockabilly blues band The Paladins, which went on to record twelve albums and headline festivals worldwide. Guitar Player Magazine recognized him as one of the “Top 101 Unsung Guitar Heroes,” and Fender created a Signature Model guitar for him. In 2003, Gonzalez and vocalist Chris Gaffney formed the western soul band The Hacienda Brothers. The group earned critical acclaim, including a 2007 nomination for “Group of The Year” from the Americana Music Association. After Gaffney’s passing in 2008, the band ended. Gonzalez then moved to Austin, Texas, where he started the Stone River Boys and produced their debut album, Love On The Dial.
