ORYX
Formed in 2012, Denver’s blackened monolithic sludge band ORYX originated with guitarist/vocalist, Tommy Davis, and Abbey Davis on drums. As a two-piece, they released their debut LP, Widowmaker (2014), a split LP with Languish (2016), and their second full-length Stolen Absolution (February 2018). ORYX dove into a darker and heavier realm with the release of their EP, Born Into Madness (October 2018). Their latest release, Lamenting a Dead World, was recorded at Juggernaut Studios by Ben Romsdahl in August 2020 and mastered by Greg Wilkinson of Earhammer Studios. This is their first release on Translation Loss Records. As a three-piece, ORYX’s sound “…has evolved into a crushing, cataclysmic monstrosity embroiled in dissonance and feedback…” (Invisible Oranges). Since their inception, ORYX have completed multiple solo US tours, served as direct tour support for Electric Wizard, opened for numerous well-established acts such as Sleep, Eyehategod, Ufomammut, Old Man Gloom, and Kylesa, while also carving a name for themselves in the metal underground.
