Profile of Jackie | Autumn Dominguez Quintet Plays Jackie McLean
($25-$35 Tickets + DICE fees | 6:30pm & 8:30pm Shows) Autumn Dominguez is back! The Autumn Dominguez Quintet pays tribute to legendary bebop and hard bop alto saxophonist, Jackie McLean. Emerging from the bebop scene of 1950s New York, McLean was a protégé of Charlie Parker but quickly developed a biting, urgent tone and rhythmic edge that set him apart. Later McLean would incorporate the freer structures of the avant-garde, making him a pioneer in that transitional moment of 1960s jazz. In the 1970s, he became one of the first collegiate jazz educators founding the jazz studies program at the University of Hartford.
