–SHARKK HEARTT–Lara Ruggles is an activist, singer/songwriter, pianist, guitarist, and electronic music producer performing down-tempo electronic pop anthems under the stage name Sharkk Heartt. Since 2011, Ruggles has released an EP, two albums, and four standalone singles both as Sharkk Heartt and under her own name, and been compared to a diverse range of artists including Florence and the Machine, Sylvan Esso and Sarah McLachlan. In 2017, Ruggles shared the stage with multiple Grammy Award winner LeAnn Rimes as part of her “Today is Christmas” tour; in 2021, her music video for “Work Fires” from her album “Wars Our Mothers Fought” won both the Tucson Idea Funding Creative Battle award and “Best Music Video” at the Apex Film Festival. Ruggles has toured with her own band, as a solo artist, and several times with activist and spoken-word poet Andrea Gibson, most recently joining their “Right Now, I Love You Forever” US tour in February 2020. In 2023 Lara was selected as the National Parks Arts Foundation’s artist-in-residence for the month of May at Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. She’ll be returning to Tucson excited to perform a handful of brand-new songs written during her time on the big island.
–PROPER PET– we were tired of being sad so we started a band
–JILLIAN BESSETT–vocal loop artist from Tucson, AZ who uses the Boss RC-505 to create a lush audial landscape beneath layers of intricate harmonies. Her evocative lyrics and charming stage presence has endeared her to audiences throughout the southwest music scene–opening for nationally touring acts like Lake Street Dive and The Messthetics (ex Fugazi). The keystone, however, is that instantly recognizable smoky alto voice that has prompted comparisons to Amy Winehouse, Feist, Nina Simone, and Adele.
