Sean Johnson Sextet: Lush Life, The Music of Billy Strayhorn ft. Eliana Joy
($15-$30 | 7pm & 9pm Shows) Sean Johnson brings his Santa Fe, NM sextet to Tucson for his Century Room debut! They will be performing the music of Duke Ellington’s longtime collaberator Billy Strayhorn.

Growing up primarily in Tucson, AZ, Sean was a student at the Tucson Jazz Institute (TJI) from middle school through high school, primarily under the tutelage of Scott Black, Brice Winston, and Doug Tideback, and Neamen Lyles. Graduating from Catalina Foothills High school in 2016, he went on to study saxophone at the University of Miami Frost School of Music on a full scholarship. There, he studied saxophone with Gary Keller, Mark Small, and Phil Doyle in addition to performance studies with guitarist John Hart and percussionist Dafnis Prieto. In 2018, Sean’s Miami-based group, Kairos Sextet, released its debut album Transition to critical acclaim on Dafnis’s Dafnison Music label.
Currently residing in Santa Fe, NM, he enjoys a multifaceted career as a musician and entrepreneur. In addition to his active performance schedule, Sean is owner/operator of Mesa Creative Solutions, a marketing agency specializing in the performing arts, and co-founder of Wigler Group, a B2B new business development firm. His performance credits include Jazz Lincoln Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, Festival Miami and the Blue Whale, to name a few. He has received a host of music accolades and has worked closely with many of the industry’s finest, including Terence Blanchard, Jason Palmer, Fabian Almazan, Vijay Iyer, and Kendrick Scott, among others.
Currently, Sean performs regularly with J for his Century Room debut.
